* note:
A neo-conservative (abbreviated as neo-con or neocon) is part of a U.S. based
ideological political movement rooted in liberal Cold War anticommunism and a
backlash against the social liberation movements of the 1960s and 1970s. Many
follow the philosophic instruction of Leo Strauss, including his conviction in
the necessity for governmental Machiavellian fraudulence, manipulation and mass
deception.

They favor an aggressive
unilateral U.S. foreign policy and generally believe that elites must protect
democracy from the masses. One of their most noteworthy organizations is the
neocon think tank called the Project for the New American Century (PNAC).
