Against all reports to the
contrary, reality still exists. The way we perceive it, though, alters rapidly
along with the methods with which it is depicted. Those who choose the
traditional field of painting to examine these processes, as do the artists
presented in this exhibition, do not need to treat their tools with ironical
distance. These artists have positioned themselves beyond the concept of the
avant garde to exchange it for a more differentiated idea of the contemporary.
Their approaches have one thing in common: their intellectual vantage points
lie outside of painting. Painting is used as a means and therefore it exists as
a vivid contemporary medium.
